Lecture - Evolution of the Solid Planets of Our Solar System - 3
In this mini-lecture, we think about the escape of heat from a convecting planet and how this works as a mechanical heat engine. This is the driving force for geology on the Earth and leads to plate tectonics. On other planets we see different styles of surface deformation reflecting the interior dynamics.
It is probably helpful if you already had a look through the Solar System Guidebook and the previous sets of Lectures Slides - 1 and Lectures Slides - 2
